Finance Committee Report
The Finance Committee is responsible for the oversight of all church funds including general funds, building funds, endowment and memorial funds and scholarship funds.
The finance committee had an audit of the Community Churches 2009 financial records. The audit was conducted by Mary Linda Scott and Joanne Cummins assisted by Elsie Schroeder.
The Audit Committee stated that the churches finances are being handled accurately and all records were available to them. No discrepancies were found.
The committee made a recommendation on the salary to be offered to the Search Committee. A policy on Freewill collections & expenses was approved to help maintain accurate records of receipts and expenses. Please turn in all money collected to the church office. Expenses incurred will be reimbursed by check when receipts or other expense report are turned in.
For programs such as Lenten dinners or other programs with multiple sessions please provide the church secretary, or the Treasurer, with written instructions of where freewillcollections and expenses are to be accounted for or distributed.
The committee requested a 2.0% distribution from the Liebetreu Educational Fund until the original endowment amount is reached and then to increase the distribution amount to 4% to 5% annually. This was in response to a letter from the Community Foundation for Mason County stating that no scholarships would be available from the Liebetreu Educational Fund again this year because the fund was below the original gift value. The Community Foundation accepted the committees request and distributed the scholarships. The Myers scholarship made available funds for scholarships. No scholarships were distributed from the Laude Fund due to market conditions.
The 2010 budget was prepared and recommended to the COM. It was subsequently approved by the congregation at our October annual meeting.
Memoria! funds were disbursed and were distributed for the concert piano and apopcorn machine. Funds from the Birtwistle fund were distributed for a computer for thePastor’s office and for a recorder in the sound booth.
